Hey all! I wanted to spread the word about some great healthy treats you can get at any grocery store without breaking the bank. I buy a package of carrots (99 cents at Walmart, also available at any grocery store with a produce section. My dogs love carrots! They also love apple slices…another healthy idea! Instead of paying more money to get possibly unhealthy rewards/treats for your loved one, you can try feeding carrots, apples and cucumbers as an alternative! You will be surprised with the results! Its definitely worth a try. Happy treating!

Protect your pet from the sun!

Hey guys, I am sure that you are aware that keeping the suns harmful rays from your skin is a must. It is also important for your pet!! If your pet is left outside for a majority of the day, or is with you on a trip to go hiking and swimming, etc, they need sunscreen too! You will notice without sunscreen, their noses will be pretty red in no time. Check out your local pet stores, make sure you can get a decent spf with no allergens and your pet will be set, just like you! When you prepare yourself for the sun, prepare your furry friend as well!!

If you plan on going hiking with your pet, or camping!

Hey all. I don’t know about you, but I love it when the weather heats up and I can go out and hike, camp, go to the lake or head to my family’s cabin. Of course, I HAVE to take my dog Ruby! Here are some important tips if you plan on doing the same with your pet. First, make sure that they are current on ALL of their shots! Also as important, is that they have flea contol that can fight off ticks as well as fleas, and Frontline is a great product that does just that. Make sure you have their papers that show they are licensed and have their rabies tag. Keep water on you at all times, and a portable water bowl for your pet. Imagine how thirsty they are! Lastly, take bags to pick up after your pet! That is a must. Have fun enjoying the weather with your dog!!

Lets not forget, the hotter it gets, the more important water is for both you and your pet. Making sure your pet is hydrated if you are leaving the pet outside during these 100 degree days is imperative. Leaving two dishes full of water is better than coming home to a sick dehydrated pet. If you want to take your pet on a walk, I recommend doing so in the early hours before it gets too hot. And if you do take your pet on a walk, make sure you bring a portable water bowl (easily $5 at any pet store) and a bottled water so that you both stay hydrated and healthy! Its not even May yet, so lets make sure that we are prepared for the hot days!

Its important to be vigilant when it comes to candy and your pets. Chocolate is very bad for dogs, and as we know, dogs have a tendency to get into things. To avoid this, keep your candy at a level your pet can’t reach. Also, keep your pet in another area so that they aren’t nosing around during your easter egg hunt. Its simple changes, but they work! Have a happy and safe Easter!

Hey Doggersizers! I know that we have rain pretty much every day this week, so I thought of a few fun ways to get exercise in with your pet so they don’t drive you crazy! Although everyone’s house is different, I am hoping that at least one tip can help you out during this winter weather!

Got a garage? Great! As long as you have a good amount of room in your garage (a space where your car would be for example) You can play a small game of catch with your pet in your garage. All you need is a little wiggle room, and a little luck, and in no time you and your pet will be wrestling around and burning energy in no time! If you are training your pet, you can even work on your commands there as well. If your freezing out there, you would be surprised how much help a small space heater can lend.

Got stairs? And, hopefully for you, kids?!? Chasing your pet up and down those stairs a few times will have you both pretty tired. If your lucky, you can make it a game with your kids and your dog, to keep the energy burning with those who need it!

As I said, hopefully you have a garage or a dog run area that can be of use for you and your pet. Sometimes its hard on both the owner and the pet, because pets need more constant, consistant exercise. So try to help your pet out- chances are you will end up having more fun than you imagined!

How to keep your pet healthy during the Holidays!

Everyone knows its hard enough to keep your pet from begging at the dinner table. It gets pretty much impossible to control when you have a dozen of your family and friends at your house for Thanksgiving dinner, giving your cute little dog just one little treat. Firstly, tell your guests that table scraps are off limits. Thats really all that you can do when you have guests. At home make sure to enforce the “no table scraps” policy, and have healthy treats on hand for your pet so that you aren’t tempted to give your pet people food. Also, keeping your pet outside or in the garage during family meals would really eliminate the temptation for both parties. Just by following these easy tips you will be keeping your pet healthy enough to be around for next year’s holidays!
