Great Walk!!
Thank you to everyone who went to the “Dog Walk For Health,” we had a great turnout!! All in all, we had about 40-45 people !And quite a lot of great energetic dogs! The healthy treats (as voted for earlier on doggersize,) peanut butter banana madness, were a hug hit! I’m baking orders for treats right now at a low price, so email me!! Everyone enjoyed the walk so much that they want to do it more than once a year, so more plans for dog walks to follow. Don’t worry, we’re thinkin September! Keep posted for more great dog summer tips!!

No smoking allowed!!
As a vet technician, I ended up seeing quite a lot of pets suffering from the effects of secondhand smoke. These pets lived in a smoking household, and x-rays would often show that the pet had cancer in the nose or throat areas, and short nosed dogs tended to suffer more from lung cancer. Lets keep this in mind folks: Your pets DON’T smoke!! In order to protect your pet, if you aren’t going to quit and protect yourself, you should have a specific area to smoke, preferably outdoors. Trust me guys, there is nothing worse than a pet suffering needlessly.
Easy Exercise for you, fun for your pet!
Alright you active people!! Get your bikes, get your dogs, get set………….GO!!! Now, I am one for ensuring that your pet has enough exercise each day to get tired…the kind of tired that makes them sleep and not bug you throughout the night!! One way to do this is to go biking with your dog. Of course, this goes for the well trained dogs, and I really recommend using a harness in replacement of a leash for this exercise to lessen the chances of your dog getting choked or hurt during the bike ride. As long as you are comfortable on a bike, your dog is comfortable with a harness and a lead, you both are in for a fun healthy afternoon!….or morning, with this heat! Of course, don’t try this if your dog has not been properly leash trained, and of course, make sure that you are bike trained!! I find, with any workout, variety is the spice!!
any other suggestions you have, tried and true?Let me know!! Comment me!
Get your dog a workout buddy!
Everybody knows that when you start a workout, the chances of it being successful are heightened by having a workout partner. This also applies to your pet! If you don’t have family or friends with pets, you can check out craigs list, or put up fliers in your local neighborhood to see if there are any other dog walkers who want a walking buddy! Its a simple idea, but it can make all the difference in your pets drive for a healthier lifestyle!
Foreclosure Pets
After hearing about “foreclosure pets” I immediately wanted to become involved. Its no secret that Modesto has hundreds of foreclosures, and now we have pets being left behind. I will be taking donations for this cause at my “Dog Walk For Health,” if you can’t make the walk and still want to donate contact me by phone or email. This is a local issue, and its important to get involved early. I will have wrist bands for the cause at the dog walk! Please let me know if you would like to be more involved! Check out this link to become more informed.
